CHAPTER 9

Hilary came out of her room, hair down, makeup on, dressed in a very expensive silver, sequined, designer dress. She wore the same strappy heels she’d worn that first night on the job. Only this time, she was much more confident. They made her feel taller and slimmer.

She’d been working for Brad for almost three weeks now and the money was rolling in faster than she could deposit it in the bank. Not that she was complaining. She’d been able to cover her share of all the bills and pay Ali back for the couple months she’d covered Hilary’s ass when things were tight.

“You’re going out again?” Ali asked, her head popping up from where she lay on the couch with Riley.

“I’m not going out. I’m working.” Hilary laughed it off and dismissed it with a wave of her hand. “Besides, I’m sure you two would like some privacy. Lord knows I don’t want to listen to you go at it again all night.”

Riley gave her a cocky smile and shrugged, tucking one hand behind his head, using the other to keep Ali firmly pressed to his body. “I make no apologies for what Ali and I do,” he said.

Hilary sighed. Ali and Riley had a rocky start, but now that they’d worked things out, they were inseparable. And so totally head over heels in love it made Hilary both jealous and sick to her stomach. She would do anything to have what Ali had managed to find. She was happy for her best friend. After all the crap Ali had dealt with this past year, she deserved to be happy.

“Riley.” Ali laughed and playfully smacked him. He grabbed the back of her head and brought her down to him for a kiss that lasted for an uncomfortable length of time.

Hilary cleared her throat in an effort to remind them she was still standing there. Watching. She shook her head. “This is exactly why I took on an extra shift tonight. You two have fun. I’ll see you in the morning, Ali.” Hilary headed for the door but Ali jumped off the couch and followed, squeezing in front of Hilary before she could leave.

“Hil, I’m worried. You’re working more than anything else lately. You’re never here. We never hang out. You rarely go to classes anymore either. And I still have no idea what you do at this job of yours.” Ali crossed her arms, a clear indication she had no intentions of letting Hilary leave.

Behind them, Riley stood and said, “I’ll give you two a minute.” Then he disappeared into Ali’s room, but not before Hilary saw the erection he proudly sported.

The sight of Riley’s arousal was like gas on a fire. It had been far too long since Hilary had been with a man, and all this dancing and teasing she did wasn’t helping quell her raging libido. If anything, it was making it worse. She needed to get laid. Unfortunately, working almost every single night wasn’t going to help her accomplish that.
